What features would make feedly better for you?

I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. always show feed list

Option to always display the feed list on the left side of the screen when in Title view, as in Google Reader, so we don't have to click on or hover over the 3 bars in the top right corner to temporarily see the list constantly.

  2. don't show old articles when there are no more unread articles (and only show unread filter is on).

when all articles are read and the "only show unread articles" filter is on, feedly still shows me all my old articles. the point of this filter should be to not show me stuff i've already read. in google reader, it just tells me i've read everything, which is much better than showing me stuff i've read already.

  4. Support HTML span tag, to display styled text (source code, highlighting etc.) from original post

I use Google reader to read programming posts. These posts contain lots of source code, that is typically syntax-highlighted using colors etc. via HTML span tags within <pre> blocks. These appear correctly on Google Reader but not on Feedly. In Feedly, the entire <span> tag is displayed as-is, rather than rendered.

    For example: jObject.<span style="">addToolbar</span><span style="color: #080;">(</span><span style="color: #080;">)</span>

Suspected reason: feedly automatically converts <span> into "&lt ;span&gt ;" rather than keeping the original angled brackets.

  5. An extension for Google Chrome like Google Reader Notifier

I really liked the Google Reader Notifier extension for Google Chrome while it lasted. It placed an icon next to my omnibox that had a counter on it. The counter showed me how many unread feed items I had in Google Reader.

Now, Google have removed it from the Chrome Web Store. It still works with browsers where is is installed (since Feedly syncs with Reader, it shows me unread Feedly items as well), but it no longer syncs between browsers and I can't install it in new browsers. When Google Reader goes down, the extension will cease to work…

  6. Allow authenticated feeds from services like Factiva

My single reason for not converting to Feedly in this moment of dire need is that about half the feeds I follow for work are from our paid Factiva service. Factiva allows me to create a feed for their alerts, and Google Reader just displays the meta-description for each result (just like they do for Google News Alerts); once I click on a story, sure, I have to log in. That's fine. However, when I converted to Feedly, those feeds aren't being pulled in. Instead, I get this error message:
"Feedly was not able to load feed: Access to this…

  7. Feedly does not appear to refresh a post if the author updates it after posting. (Google reader does this).

Feedly does not appear to refresh a post if the author updates it after posting. (Google reader does this).
Authors always see typos and clarifications after posting - so this feature is important. The preview has the updated text but the normal click does not. This may resolve itself eventually.

  8. Make it possible to mark an old post as unread

Right now, you only see the mark unread button when you're reading an unread post (so it's really a keep unread button). On Google Reader, you can go to any post in any state and toggle the "mark as read" checkbox.

  9. Reimport RSS Feeds to Google Reader/OMPL

After Feedly updates version 16.x, lots of my feed appears unread.
I removed all feeds and tags to reimport my feeds from Google Reader, but the feeds aren't sync with Reader.
How can reimport feeds? I can import a OMPL file?

  10. Make a simpler way to mark articles read/unread

I've been trying to switch to feedly from Google Reader, and mostly it seems quite nice, but the many ways of marking articles as read/unread is confusing. (Note that I have the "auto mark as read when scrolling" preference turned off, and I read in Firefox in Full Articles mode, sorted by oldest first, reading All articles.)

In Google Reader this is very simple: there's a "mark as read" checkbox that you can always click to toggle, and you can always tell if something is marked read by whether the checkbox is checked. The status never changes except when you…

  14. Fix the built-in browser

The built-in browser is worst than IE 3.5 back in early 2000, you can not win users by forcing your stupid shitty browser everywhere, listen to your users and stop acting like cunts.

    ***
    Note from Remi @ feedly:
Edited title from "Remove the fucking stupid built-in browser" to "Fix the built-in browser"

  15. Add an unread blog counter to the Chrome Feedly Button!

I LOVE Feedly. Was bummed about Google Reader, but Feedly truly is a wonderful replacement! I tried several others, but Feedly is the only one I like. The one thing I miss is the unread blog count on the Google Reader Button. If Feedly added that, it would be my choice even if Google Reader wasn't ending! The layout, look, cleaness of Feedly is far superior, I just miss the counter! It reminds me to go click on it so I can be up to date on my blogs.

  16. Allow adding RSS feeds directly by URL

You should add an option to add RSS feeds by URL, and not just by browsing your feed selection. What if I want to subscribe to my owns feeds?

  17. Remove, filter or delete duplicated posts

Analize content to detect duplicated posts. Have an option to mark them, filter them or delete them.

I have some feeds that have duplicates, content is the same, only time or url changes (http://www.example.com or http://example.com).

  19. make it easier to move from one story to the next.

In Google reader there are the "up" and "down" arrows at the top of the screen, or you can use the arrows on your keyboard to quickly and easily move between each story. I have not yet found that option in Feedly...maybe I'm just doing it wrong? It's super frustrating and makes me not want to use it.

  20. Would be nice to have a "subscribe" bookmark like Google reader has.

Would be nice to have a "subscribe" bookmark like Google reader has: settings > reader settings > goodies > "subscribe as you surf." Thanks!
